A) Sitting on one of the stone statues of Duel Academa's entrance, with notes and a unfolded table. He's jotting things down.

B) At a pleasant cafe/outdoor area attached to Labirinto, it's got a nice wooden raised deck area. He's at a table under the shade of an umbrella propped up from it. Writing down notes, and pondering to himself.

Feel free to hassle him. It's not like he's doing anything important.::

*There seems to be a small girl in a Ra Yellow uniform that comes out of the nearby woods. She's covered in leaves and branches and appears to be holding empty snack packets.
She wanders towards the statues and Koyo catches her attention.*

... Honestly, I'm not sure. I can't remember what exactly got me into it. Fascination with its connection to ancient cultures maybe?

But basically every ancient culture practiced some form of what we now call "Dark Games", "Games of Darkness" or "Shadow Games", as a means to obtain power, riches, glory, prosperity, or even, as I said, to reshape a person to their whims.

To be honest, I feel like I've seen one before, but it was when I was really young and I don't really remember it well. I think I was with Juudai... but it was someone else dueling...

How many 'levels' does a Dark Game have?

At least three.

Level Three lets things from other worlds crawl in, possess you, and kill people.

Hmn. So level three is the really bad high level.

Yes, but the greatest danger is the "Penalty Game", as the winner can inflict a punishment on the loser, depending on the magic being poured into the game.

Or it can be baked into the Duel.

Imagine every Life Point lost, say, a family member becomes more of a cowardly crybaby.

Or they could be told to forget you.

That sounds so awful. It's terrible to think there are duels like that that exist.

That's the dangerous bit.

They aren't restricted to Duels.

Any game can be turned into one.

Candyland can be used as a medium.

So yes.

Any contest with a combination of luck and a little skill can be used.

Even a coin flip bet can be the basis of a Dark Game.

I mean, you research fire arms to know their danger potential.

Its danger, why it is used, the cultures that did use it. That sort of thing.

They were used for political struggles, religious ceremonies, and for the purposes of mystery religions.
